Project background
Client: A solid-wood dining set factory in Zhejiang
Cargo: Ash-wood dining table sets
POD: Los Angeles, USA
Partnership: 2023–present
Client concerns:
1. Wood fumigation
Wood packaging sometimes missed the IPPC mark, or fumigation certificates expired, leading to CBP refusal
2. Clearance documents
MDF in accessories was once undeclared and the shipment was held
3. Last-mile delivery
Appointment slots at the retailer warehouse were unavailable, generating truck waiting fees of tens to hundreds of dollars per hourETEXCEL solid-wood furniture FCL DDP door-to-door solution
The first thing we did was move compliance forward:For solid-wood furniture we verified the factory’s IPPC heat-treatment records, confirmed a core temperature of 56°C for at least 30 minutes, and reissued a compliant phytosanitary treatment certificate.
On the entry we dropped vague descriptions and declared “Ash Wood Dining Table” and “MDF Panel” with material, use and process — eliminating holds triggered by inaccurate descriptions.
For ocean first-mile we used our own IOR and Bond to file DDP against the real commercial background. Given routine 5H exams at LA, we cross-checked the full set (invoice, packing list, B/L, product compliance) so every data point could withstand a deep review.
After arrival, CBP release came sooner than expected. Last-mile followed. The dining sets were headed to a regional furniture retailer’s East Coast DC. Large US commercial warehouses run strict appointments. Using partner trucking in the region, we locked the unload window 72 hours before vessel arrival. The driver arrived on time with complete paperwork, no dry-run or reschedule, and unloading took under two hours.
From arrival to POD took only four working days. The client later calculated that although our DDP was a few cents per kilo higher, there was no demurrage, no return risk and no waiting fees — total cost went down. More important, the ash tables reached the sales floor in time for the spring season. For furniture exporters, certainty is often worth more than the freight rate itself.
